DECATUR – Today The City of Decatur, Greater Decatur Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Corporation and Evergreen Hospitality will announce the construction of a Hampton Inn on Decatur’s East Side. The project will involve the construction of a four story, 80-room Hampton Inn representing an investment of more than $7 million. It is expected that the construction of this facility will provide local construction jobs for approximately 110 trades people over the life of the project. The construction period is expected to take 10-12 months and the hotel is expected to support thirty full-time equivalent employees once it opens. We believe that an additional hotel in this location will create a “hotel cluster” which will attract additional visitors to the area providing benefits to retailers and restaurants.
“We are very excited about the addition of a Hampton Inn next to our airport. This $7 million project by Steve Horve will create a hotel cluster on Decatur’s East Side. Which in turn will increase demand not only for our current restaurants & retailers, but also for our restaurant & retail prospects.” said Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe, City of Decatur.
